WHERE DID THE ELEPHANT GET ITS TRUNK?

Genesis 1:24

"And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so."
On a previous Creation Moments program, we told you about the elephant's trunk with its 40,000 muscles. This is 70 times the number of muscles in your entire body! And that amazing trunk can bulldoze a tree or pick up a pin.

But why does an elephant have a trunk in the first place? For the answer to that question, we looked in a very old book called Natural Theology. It was written by William Paley in 1802. Yes, that's the same William Paley who came up with the famous analogy of a person who finds a watch and deduces that the watch must have had a watchmaker.

According to Paley, "The short unbending neck of the elephant is compensated by the length and flexibility of his proboscis," or trunk. "He could not have reached the ground without it." In other words, the elephant needed such a trunk to reach food and water. But, then, a person could ask why does the elephant have such a short and unbending neck? Paley answers that he needed such a neck to support such a heavy head!

Obviously, the elephant was given its trunk by a very wise Creator. As Paley so well pointed out, if the elephant had waited millions of years for his trunk to grow, "how was the animal to subsist in the meantime… until the prolongation of its snout was completed?" It is a question that evolutionists today are still unable to answer.

Heavenly Father, thank You that even the elephant's trunk provides a witness to Your hand in creation! In Jesus' Name. Amen.

SCIENCE MAKES THE CASE FOR GOD

Romans 1:20

"For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse."
Though Creation Moments doesn't agree with everything that Christian author and apologist Eric Metaxas believes about origins, we have to congratulate him on his excellent op-ed piece that appeared in The Wall Street Journal – "Science Increasingly Makes the Case for God."

Metaxas pointed out, "Today there are more than 200 known parameters necessary for a planet to support life – every single one of which must be perfectly met, or the whole thing falls apart."

He followed that up by asking such pertinent questions as: "Can every one of those many parameters have been perfect by accident?" And: "Doesn't assuming that an intelligence created these perfect conditions require far less faith than believing that a life-sustaining Earth just happened to beat the inconceivable odds to come into being?"

Naturally, an op-ed piece like this was sure to anger atheists and evolutionists. One prominent atheist – Lawrence Krauss – wrote a letter to the editor stating what we've heard many times before: "The appearance of design of life on Earth is overwhelming, but we now understand, thanks to Charles Darwin, that the appearance of design is not the same as design."

Following in Richard Dawkins' footsteps, Krauss discards what he himself calls the "overwhelming" evidence of design. But atheists like Krauss and Dawkins must toss out this evidence only because their godless worldview demands it. Thanks but no thanks. Creationists prefer real science over the atheistic philosophy of evolutionism. Things that appear to be designed really were designed!

Heavenly Father, thank You for creating the universe with such complexity that even atheists can't miss seeing Your hand in its creation. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

EYEWITNESS ACCOUNT OF THE EXODUS?

Exodus 10:22

"And Moses stretched forth his hand toward heaven; and there was a thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days:"
In the early 19th century, a papyrus was found in Egypt – called the Ipuwer papyrus – that appears to be an actual eyewitness account of the events recorded in the book of Exodus. Of course, nearly all secular archaeologists attempted to say the papyrus does not describe these events. After all, their worldview is opposed to the historic reliability of the Bible.

But Rabbi Mordechai Becher, senior lecturer for the Gateways Organization, points out on his webpage that "the papyrus accurately describes violent upheavals in Egypt, starvation, drought, escape of slaves (with the wealth of the Egyptians), and death throughout the land." He goes on to write, "The papyrus was written by an Egyptian named Ipuwer and appears to be an eyewitness account of the effects of the Exodus plagues from the perspective of an average Egyptian."

Here are just a few eyewitness observations from the Ipuwer papyrus that match the events in the book of Exodus: plague is throughout the land, the river (Nile) becomes blood and men thirst for water, grain has perished on every side, the hearts of animals weep while cattle moan, the land is without light, the children of princes have died, and precious metals and stones are "fastened on the neck of female slaves."

In all, Rabbi Becher points out 18 similarities where the Ipuwer papyrus lines up with the Scriptures. For us, the evidence couldn't be more convincing. The events described in the book of Exodus – like the events recorded in Genesis – are historically accurate.

Heavenly Father, though I need no archaeological evidences to "prove" that the Bible is true, I thank You for these evidences because they may help convince skeptics to take a closer look at the Bible. Amen.

BULLIES!

1 John 4:6

"We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error."
In a recent study of over 4,000 children in the United Kingdom and more than 1,420 children in the United States, researchers concluded that bullied children have similar or worse mental health problems later in life than those who have suffered emotional or even physical abuse.

Yes, bullying is a very serious issue, and it's not just other kids who are doing the bullying. Sometimes it's a teacher who pounds his desk and shouts, "I've been a science teacher for over 30 years, and I tell you that evolution is not a hypothesis or even a theory – it's a fact!" Most students are reluctant to say anything for fear of receiving a failing grade. Besides, their teachers have studied such matters far longer than they have, so what right do they have to say anything?

But here's another way of looking at this. By rejecting the Bible as the authoritative source of knowledge, such teachers have a distorted understanding of the world around them. And the longer they look through this distorted "lens", the more hardened they become in their error.

So, Christian students, don't let yourself be silenced by arrogant science teachers. Remember that their long years of study proves nothing. After all, the Bible – unlike science textbooks – doesn't need to be constantly updated and revised. The Bible's truths are true for all time. So the longer you study the Bible – the reliable source of knowledge and wisdom – the greater your understanding of the world around you will be.

Heavenly Father, with evolution being taught as fact, I pray that You will place Your hand of protection on Christian students and help them stand strong for biblical truth. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

 WORLD'S TOP INTELLECTUALS ARE THEISTS

"And Solomon's wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the children of the east country, and all the wisdom of Egypt."
"Have you ever heard the claim 'all smart people are atheists', or maybe its inverse: 'people who believe in God are dumb'?" So begins a column at Examiner.com by a writer who decided to see if this is true by taking a closer look at the ten highest IQs ever recorded. His conclusion is that the most intelligent people on the planet believe in God.

Of course, we don't have time today to tell you about all 10, but we will give you a glimpse into the amazing mind of Andrew Magdy Kamal. Just before he turned 17, Andrew was found to have the highest IQ ever recorded � 231.734. According to the columnist, Andrew "is a staunch conservative and a member of the Republican Tea Party. He is also the founder of the Coptic Orthodox Messianicans Group." Andrew said he "hopes to use his talents and intelligence to spread the news of Messiah Yeshua (Jesus Christ) his hero."

The highest IQ ever recorded for an adult in the "advanced IQ test" was attained by Abdessellam Jelloul. He scored an adult IQ of 198. When asked about his religious beliefs, he replied that he "believes in God, a Supreme Architect of the universe."

Obviously, there are intelligent people who do and who don't believe in God. In the end, it is important to remember that it is not one's intellect that can put a person into a right relationship with the God of the universe. It is faith in Jesus Christ.

Heavenly Father, I thank You that it is not a person's great intellect that causes a person to turn to Your Son for salvation. Otherwise, I might not be praying to You right now! Amen.

NASA'S GLORY HAS DEPARTED

1 Samuel 4:21

"And she named the child Ichabod, saying, The glory is departed from Israel: because the ark of God was taken, and because of her father-in-law and her husband."
Some of you listening to me today are too young to remember the glory days of NASA � when the U.S. space agency put a man into Earth orbit and, a few years later, on the surface of the moon. NASA had brains and guts in those days � as evidenced by the remarkable story of Apollo 13 � or when astronauts weren't afraid to read passages from Scripture in their transmissions from space.

All of that has changed. One of NASA's main missions now is helping Muslims feel better about their scientific accomplishments. NASA is also trying to find life on other planets to prove that evolution can happen anywhere. And the space agency is spending millions of taxpayer dollars to prove that man-made global warming is real.

So how are these missions working out? Well, a few years ago a NASA rocket, carrying a satellite called Glory, was launched, only to plummet a few minutes later into the Pacific Ocean. How sad, considering that its mission was to gather data supporting man-made global warming!

According to the Associated Press, the Glory represented "the second-straight blow to NASA's weakened environmental monitoring program. The same thing happened to another climate-monitoring satellite [two years earlier] with the same type of rocket." A NASA official noted that "the loss of Glory will mostly hurt projections and modeling of future climate change."

Truth be told, the glory departed long ago when NASA became focused on missions supporting such pseudo-sciences as man-made global warming and evolution.

Heavenly Father, thank You for scientists who are involved in real scientific endeavors that benefit mankind. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

BEAUTIFUL BUT DEADLY WOMAN

Esther 1:11

"To bring Vashti the queen before the king with the crown royal, to shew the people and the princes her beauty: for she was fair to look on."
In Italian, its name means beautiful woman. The belladonna plant first received this name because it was used to make eye-drops for women in ancient Rome. Belladonna made the women appear more seductive by dilating the pupils of their eyes.

Today, the plant is often called the deadly nightshade, and it certainly lives up to that name. The deadly nightshade is one of the most poisonous plants known. It is particularly dangerous because its glistening black berries are tempting to children. But they can also be fatal to an adult who foolishly consumes as few as two of the berries. Ingesting even one leaf can kill an adult, but the roots are the deadliest part of all.

The deadly nightshade is one of a group of hallucinogenic plants that are known to produce a sensation of flight. According to the book Secrets of the Natural World, "Witches were thought to have used [the] plants in their potions, which may explain why witches are typically portrayed flying through the night sky."

Creation Moments believes that the deadly nightshade represents a collaboration of sorts between God and Adam. God originally created the plant with berries that could be eaten without harm. After all, God called His creation "very good." But after Adam took that fateful bite of the forbidden fruit, God cursed the ground. This is when we believe that the chemistry of the harmless belladonna was changed into a plant that can kill with one bite.

Heavenly Father, thank You for telling us in the Bible how death and suffering came into the world so that we can know they were not a part of Your original creation. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

NO BRAIN? NO PROBLEM!

Psalm 136:25-26

"Who giveth food to all flesh: for his mercy endureth for ever. O give thanks unto the God of heaven: for his mercy endureth for ever."
Judging from the things many of us choose to eat, you'd be right in thinking that we sometimes don't use our brains when it comes to making healthy food choices. But a tiny multicellular animal, which scientists call "Trix" for short, doesn't use its brain at all at mealtime. In fact, it doesn't have a brain or a single nerve cell in its whole millimeter-sized body.

So how is it that these tiny, brainless creatures are found worldwide, crawling across shallow seafloors on a belly covered in hairlike cilia in search of algae? Scientists have recently discovered that Trix have a whole bag of tricks that enable them to seek out algae with surprising sophistication.

According to an article in LiveScience, when scientists used light and electron microscopy to look up close at Trix, they found two previously unknown cell types, giving Trix a total of six body cell types in all. By contrast, humans have hundreds of different cell types. Scientists think that one of these new cell types � which they call "crystal cells" � allows Trix to sense their environment, thus enabling it to find its lunch on the seafloor.

Though scientists now know how Trix find food, they don't have a clue how they came to have these crystal cells to begin with. And they are utterly incapable of explaining how Trix survived before they supposedly "evolved" those cells. To creationists, however, it's crystal clear that God created this creature with all the cell types it needed to survive.

Heavenly Father, it doesn't take a brain like Einstein's to see that even an animal without a brain is highly complex. I praise Your Son, Jesus Christ, for being that Designer! Amen.

IMMIGRATION PROBLEM

Exodus 22:21

"Thou shalt neither vex a stranger, nor oppress him: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt."
On an earlier broadcast, I shared with you how Darwinism led to racism and horrendous acts that are comparable to what terrorists are doing today with unspeakable acts of violence. Though our broadcast today tells a far less gruesome story, it does show how Darwinism even played a part in America's early immigration policies.

At the turn of the twentieth century, when immigrants were flooding into North America, there were certain groups very hostile to Roman Catholicism, and they were looking for justification to exclude Catholics from the country on scientific grounds. Obviously, to have excluded them on religious grounds would have undermined the boast of America being "the land of the free" and would in any case have violated the Constitution.

However, Franz Boas, a German anthropologist, was asked to set up a team on Ellis Island where immigrants could be scientifically screened. Screening was carried out by measurement of head size and distance from fingertip to knee cap, all on the presumption that Man had evolved from the ape and that those closer to the ape's proportions were to be excluded. The "dark races" especially included those from Catholic countries. Many immigrants were turned back on the dubious grounds that their lower intelligence would dilute the general gene pool.

Even today there are people who believe that certain races of people are less evolved than others. But those people certainly did not get that notion from the Bible. The Bible affirms there is only one race � the human race!

Heavenly Father, like the song says, Jesus loves the little children, red, brown, yellow, black and white! Thank You, Jesus, for coming to save the lost, no matter what their skin color might be. Amen.

DARWIN'S HEADHUNTERS

Genesis 1:27

"So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them."
Charles Darwin introduced his theory of evolution in 1859 in the book Origin of Species. Many evolutionists, however, would like people to forget that the full title is On the Origin of Species By Means of Natural Selection or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life.

It is undeniable that Darwin promoted racist ideas that could then be solidly founded upon "science." Although he never mentioned Man in his Origin of the Species, the implications were there that Man had come from the animal kingdom.

In his third book, The Expression of Emotions in Man and Animal, published in 1872, Darwin left no doubt about his racist ideas, and head-measuring became a full-time occupation to determine which races were more "evolved" than others. Teams of hunters set out to obtain specimen heads from aboriginal Australian and Tasmanian owners … whether the owners had ceased to use them or not! Entire tribes were shot down, and the museum cases of the "civilized" nations became filled with neatly graduated rows of heads giving supposed "proof" of evolution.

Most evolutionists deny this gruesome chapter in the history of Darwinism. Yet it shows that Darwinism is not only racist, it treats humans as if they were animals. Is it any wonder, then, that most evolutionists are in favor of abortion and euthanasia while creationists oppose these practices? After all, creationists – not evolutionists – know that all people, young and old, are created in the image of God.

Heavenly Father, I look forward to the day You put an end to the evil slaughter of unborn babies, each of whom bears Your image. Amen.

THE FISH FOUNTAIN

1 Corinthians 10:13

"There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it."
One of my favorite books is Rupert Sheldrake's Dogs That Know When Their Owners Are Coming Home. Though the book was written by a non-Christian author who happens to be a well-qualified scientist from Cambridge, this book is filled with interesting stories about animal abilities that evolutionists are powerless to explain.

For instance, the author describes a school of fish as resembling a large organism. To paraphrase from the book, the school's members swim in tight formations, wheeling and reversing in near unison. When the school turns to the right or the left, individuals formerly on the flank assume the lead. When under attack, a school may respond by leaving a gaping hole around a predator. More often, the school splits in half and the two halves turn outward, swim around the predator, reverse direction, and eventually rejoin each other. This "fountain effect" leaves the predator ahead of the school. Each time the predator turns, the same thing happens.

Some filmmakers have produced fine video-footage taken in tropical waters, showing schools of fish, perhaps several hundred, all swimming in very close formation. Something alerts them and they all turn in exactly the same direction in a micro-second; there is no confusion, no touching.

Clearly, there is one superb Mind in absolute control of each of those unfettered souls to guide and to keep them and to teach us. That Mind, of course, is the one who created the fish and the oceans in which they live. Jesus is His name.

Heavenly Father, thank You for providing me with a way to escape temptation and for sending Your Son to provide the only way to escape eternal torment. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

MEET A CREATIONIST WHO'S ALSO A NUCLEAR PHYSICIST

Titus 2:1

"But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine:"
Evolutionists never seem to tire of taunting creationists with such words as: "If creationists were real scientists, their papers would be published in secular scientific journals."

But Dr. Brandon van der Ventel, professor of physics at Stellenbosch University in South Africa, doesn't allow such statements to go unchallenged. "Creation scientists," he said, "have published many articles in secular journals." He adds, however, that papers from many creation scientists "are ignored and rejected" not because they are faulty, but because they reject "the evolutionary (or billions-of-years) paradigm."

Though this professor once believed that "somehow God must have used evolution", he now rejects that. "If the story of the fall of Man is 'mythology'," he says, "then there is no need for a plan of salvation. This is ultimately an attack on the personage of our Lord Jesus Christ and His redeeming work on the cross."

Though most of his fellow academics reject a worldwide flood, he says that "Jesus explicitly refers to Noah's flood…. This raises the question: If the Lord's statement about Noah's Flood is false, then why should we believe His statement concerning eternal life?"

Dr. van der Ventel turned away from evolution when he realized that the Bible is authoritative even on scientific matters. Doubting Genesis, he said, often leads to "a slippery slide to unbelief, where we can end up questioning the inerrancy and infallibility of the entire Bible."

Heavenly Father, I pray that many other scientists in academia will turn to You in faith and that they will inspire others to turn away from evolution. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

HOW TEARS POINT TO A DESIGNER

Psalm 6:6

"I am weary with my groaning; all the night make I my bed to swim; I water my couch with my tears."
Many men today believe that the shedding of tears is a sign of weakness. They seem to have forgotten that Jesus wept when told that Lazarus had died. Jeremiah is known as the "weeping prophet" who shed tears over a backslidden nation. Even David, the slayer of tens of thousands, wrote that he often drenched his bed with tears.

Our Designer not only gave us glands to produce tears, He also gave us an ingenious way to dispose of excess tears. Here is how William Paley described this design feature in his nineteenth-century classic Natural Theology:

"To keep the eye moist and clean … a wash is constantly supplied by a secretion for the purpose; and the superfluous brine is conveyed to the nose through a perforation in the bone as large as a goose quill. When the fluid has entered the nose, it spreads itself upon the inside of the nostril and is evaporated by the current of warm air which in the course of respiration is continually passing over it."

Listen closely to Paley's next words: "It's easily perceived that the eye must want moisture; but could the 'want' of the eye generate the gland which produces the tear, or bore the hole by which it's discharged – a hole through bone?"

The answer, of course, is no, not in a billion years! As any rational person can plainly see, these features were designed by our Creator.

Heavenly Father, thank You for supplying my eyes with tears so that I can see more clearly. Most of all, thank You for giving me the eyes of faith to see that I can have eternal life by trusting in the completed work of Your Son on the cross. Amen.

PLANNED PARENTHOOD'S ROOTS IN DARWINISM

Proverbs 20:17

"Bread of deceit is sweet to a man; but afterwards his mouth shall be filled with gravel."
"Planned Parenthood, the leading government-funded abortion provider in the United States, has a history rooted in Social Darwinism, a sociological theory from evolution's doctrine of survival of the fittest."

With these words, Creation Moments' Mark Cadwallader comments on the underlying reasons on why Planned Parenthood has now been shown to commit sickening atrocities the likes of which have not been seen since the systematic slaughter of millions by the Nazi war machine.

"Evolution," he continues, "regards humans as animals – just more evolved. And as Darwin's theory came into acceptance, so-called experts began treating human beings as glorified animals. Videos have come to light showing doctors calmly discussing the manner in which they crush and dismember babies to preserve decidedly human body parts and organs for sale. Hopefully, such exposés will awaken many people to a mass human atrocity in the same way that images of the holocaust did."

He goes on to write that "an original objective of Planned Parenthood has been to cleanse society of undesirable people – including minorities – so that evolution could be advanced." He then points out that such evil acts are "intellectually justified by the fallacy of evolution."

Christians are feeling more and more like exiles in a world that has grown increasingly hostile to biblical foundations. Just as Daniel and his three friends refused to compromise their faith in the time of their exile, so must the church in our day do what we can to expose and oppose the rotted fruit of evolutionary ideas.

Heavenly Father, I pray that You will bring Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers to utter ruin. Until that day, I pray You will change the minds of many who now feel that abortion is their only recourse. Amen.

THE IMPORTANCE OF A WORLDWIDE FLOOD

2 Peter 2:5

"And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;"
A long-time friend of Creation Moments, Richard Rothermel, recently shared his thoughts with us about the worldwide flood of Noah's time and why this historic event is so important for creationists to defend. Here is what he had to say.

"The secular world cannot deal with the relics of the Global Flood, as described in Scripture. Instead, unbelievers prefer to interpret the sedimentary rocks and fossils as the result of vast ages of geological and biological evolution. Old-earth creationists also deny a global flood, preferring the interpretations of secular science (and inadvertently, perhaps, damaging the foundation of the Gospel)."

Richard continues: "The 'secular' interpretation is not only anti-biblical, it simply cannot stand scientific scrutiny. As biblical creationists, we must make every effort to ensure we understand the significance of the Global Flood for upholding the authority and integrity of Scripture. The Global Flood truly 'washes away' all those millions of years, and Darwinism goes SPLAT!

"An enormous mass of geological and paleontological information has come to light over the years which confirms the reality and magnitude of the Flood. With all of this evidence, Dr. John Whitcomb, coauthor of the groundbreaking The Genesis Flood, has rightly observed: 'Now, the Christian world has no excuse – if they ever had any – for adding millions and billions of years to earth history.'

"Until we master the concepts of the Global Flood chronology and its proper interpretation," Richard concludes, "we will have a hard time supporting biblical six-day creation and refuting compromise."

I pray that more people – believers and unbelievers alike – will come to see that the evidence for a worldwide flood is overwhelming. Such a flood really does wash away the billions of years evolutionists depend on for evolution to take place. Amen.

PEER-REVIEW FRAUD STRIKES AGAIN AND AGAIN

Proverbs 20:17

"Bread of deceit is sweet to a man; but afterwards his mouth shall be filled with gravel."
Evolutionists never tire of taunting creationists with the statement, "If creationism is scientific, why are there no papers from creationists published in peer-review publications?"

The standard creationist response is that since these peer-review publications are run by evolutionists, it is obvious why they refuse to publish articles by creationists. But perhaps we should also mention that when an article appears in a peer-review publication, this is no guarantee that the articles are accurate or even true.

While the peer-review process makes sense in theory, in actual practice, it has been found to fail miserably in this fallen world of ours. Not long ago, we told you about two of the most prestigious medical publications admitting that the peer-review process is deeply flawed. One editor wrote: "It is simply no longer possible to believe much of the clinical research that is published." The editor of the other publication added: "Much of the scientific literature, perhaps half, may simply be untrue."

Now, several new cases of peer-review fraud have come to light. One of the biggest research publishers in the world recently announced that 64 articles published in 10 of its scientific journals are being retracted because the scientists had come up with a scheme to peer review their own papers! To make matters worse, the publisher retracted 43 other papers five months earlier for the same reason.

Because the sin nature dwells in all men, we know that the only writings that can be fully trusted were authored by the ultimate truth-teller – God Himself.

Heavenly Father, I know that it is impossible for You to lie. How blessed are all those who put their trust in You and Your holy Scriptures! In Jesus' Name. Amen.

FASTEST TONGUE IN THE WEST

Genesis 7:14

"They, and every beast after his kind, and all the cattle after their kind, and every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind, and every fowl after his kind, every bird of every sort."
Considering the chameleon's slow walking speed, you might never guess that it possesses the fastest tongue of any creature. On second thought, it does makes a lot of sense for a wise Designer to equip chameleons with a tongue that's actually longer than its entire body … and lightning-fast so it can catch fast-moving insects.

Using high-speed video and x-ray film, two Dutch biologists have calculated that the chameleon shoots its tongue out of its mouth at more than 26 body lengths per second. They found that the chameleon's tongue accelerates from 0 to 20 feet per second in only 20 milliseconds!

So what's the chameleon's secret? By dissecting the chameleon's tongue, the biologists discovered a layer of collagen tissue that serves as a biological catapult that propels the tongue just similar to the way a drawn bow fires off an arrow.

Can evolution explain how this catapult got there? Creationist and author Bruce Malone points out in his book Censored Science, "It is theoretically possible to make up a story of how the chameleon's specialized eyes, tongue, and catapult structures all just happened to develop independently in order to work in perfect concert. But given that there is no fossil evidence of any other creatures possessing such structures, it would seem to be a more logical conclusion that the features were created all at the same time, rather than developed by many small step-changes over huge periods of time."

Heavenly Father, evolution may appear to make sense to some, but when people actually look closely at the creatures You have created, evolution makes no sense whatsoever. Thank You for telling us the true story in the pages of the Bible! Amen.

MR. PEANUT

Proverbs 3:5-6

"Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."
Born the son of slaves in the early 1860s, George Washington Carver grew up to become one of America's most prominent chemists. Though most people recognize him as the man who gave us peanut butter, few know that Carver was a scientist with a very close relationship with his Creator.

As we learn from the book, George Washington Carver: His Life and Faith in His Own Words by William Federer, after speaking to the U.S. House and Ways Committee, the committee chairman asked him where he had learned so much about peanuts. Carver responded: "From an old book." The chairman asked: "What book?" And Carver replied, "The Bible."

Wishing to know more, the chairman then asked, "Does the Bible tell about peanuts?" And Carver responded, "No sir. But it tells about the God who made the peanut. I asked Him to show me what to do with the peanut, and He did."

On a different occasion, when asked the secret of his success, he answered: "It is simple. It is found in the Bible, 'In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths.'"

While working in his laboratory – which he called "God's Little Workshop" – Carver developed over 300 innovative uses for peanuts and another 100 uses for the soybean, including beverages, cosmetics, paints, medicines, and food products.

So the next time an evolutionist tells you that men of faith can't be real scientists, tell him the story of Mr. Peanut.

Heavenly Father, You take delight in humble men and women who acknowledge You as Creator. I pray that You will continue to raise up scientists of faith so they will glorify You and Your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.

COMFORT FROM BIBLICAL CREATION

Psalm 31:7

"I will be glad and rejoice in thy mercy: for thou hast considered my trouble; thou hast known my soul in adversities;"
I hope that today's program doesn't sound like a two-minute-long infomercial for Creation Moments' Letting God Create Your Day books. The purpose of today's broadcast is to point out that creation truth is not only a good way to begin conversations with your friends about spiritual things. It is also good for your own state-of-mind.

Let me explain. One of our regular listeners recently wrote to tell us that he was feeling depressed by what he was reading in the daily newspaper. So he bought one of our Letting God Create Your Day books to read something different.

He told us that his appreciation of God grew as he read story after story about God's loving care for even the lowliest of creatures. He explained that if God provided for the needs of ants, sparrows, jellyfish and even amoebae, he knew that this same God would take care of his needs as well. By the time he finished the book, his depression was completely gone.

The truth of biblical creation isn't just good for sharing your faith with others. Let God comfort you through the Creation Moments broadcast as we look more closely at His amazing creation. As you consider how God cares for each one of His creatures, remember that God won't be any less faithful in providing for the needs of those who have been redeemed by the precious blood of His Son, Jesus Christ.

Heavenly Father, forgive me when I take my eyes off Your Son and let anxiety rule in my heart. As this sinful world continues on its downward spiral, I know I can find peace by looking unto Jesus. Amen.

CHARLES DARWIN AND KARL MARX

Psalm 53:1

"The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good."
Have you noticed how many of the most admired atheists come from a science background? I could name dozens – Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris, Daniel Dennett and Stephen Hawking, to name a few. Thousands of people are fans of the late Carl Sagan and his protégé, Neil deGrass Tyson. Some of these atheists are practically superstars with followers numbering in the millions.

Well, Charles Darwin had his share of followers, too. At first, his Origin of Species was accepted not on any scientific merit but rather because it offered an apparently rational alternative to the miraculous. Darwin's earliest followers were not scientists of the day but rather theologians who rejected the miracles of the Bible.

Darwin's followers each had their own particular motives for accepting the theory of evolution. But one of his most notable followers was Karl Marx. As the author of The Communist Manifesto, Marx found the struggle-to-the-death principle in natural selection a perfect confirmation of his own view of man's class struggle. In appreciation, Marx sent Darwin a copy of his Das Kapital in 1873.

Six years later, Marx wrote to Darwin, requesting permission to dedicate his next volume to him. But Darwin declined the offer, explaining that "it would pain certain members of his family if he were associated with so atheistic a book."

Sometimes I wonder if Darwin would turn in his grave if he knew of the horrors his theory has been asked to justify in the last two centuries!

Heavenly Father, I do not follow any man. Instead, I follow Your Son, Jesus Christ, who died to give me eternal life. He alone is worthy of my praise. Amen.

SCIENCE WAS WRONG ABOUT BOA CONSTRICTORS

Genesis 3:13

"And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat."
Remember being taught that boa constrictors kill their prey by literally squeezing the breath out of them? Well, scientists now know this isn't true at all.

As a recent National Geographic article points out, "Boa constrictors were long thought to kill their prey by suffocation, slowly squeezing the life out one ragged breath at a time. But a new study reveals that these big, non-venomous serpents, found in tropical Central and South America, subdue their quarry with a much quicker method: Cutting off their blood supply."

The study was conducted by vertebrate ecologist Scott Boback and his research team at Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. After feeding lab rats to boa constrictors, they found that the snakes were killing their prey by stopping the flow of blood – a much faster killing method than death by strangulation. Boback theorizes that killing by circulatory arrest gives constricting snakes an evolutionary advantage. After all, the quicker the prey dies, the less chance that it will bite the snake.

That's what it's all about, isn't it? Evolution. Isn't it interesting that evolution was also given credit when science mistakenly thought that suffocation was the means of death? The important thing to evolutionary scientists is not how boa constrictors kill their prey. The important thing for them is giving evolution full credit.

When creationists observe the animal kingdom, we praise God. When evolutionists observe the animal kingdom, they, too, give praise, but to a different "god" entirely.

Heavenly Father, it seems that evolution has become a god to many. I pray that You will expose this false god and point people to the Creator who alone can save people from their sins. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

HAWKING JOINS SEARCH FOR EXTRATERRESTRIAL LIFE

Jeremiah 29:13

"And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart."
In an interview with Britain's The Guardian newspaper in 2011, famed physicist Stephen Hawking warned that the efforts by the SETI Institute to actively "contact possible intelligent life out there is way too risky and dangerous."

In a report on why he fears contact with alien life, Hawking wrote: "I imagine they might exist in massive ships, having used all the resources from their home planet. Such advanced aliens would perhaps become nomads, looking to conquer and colonize whatever planets they can reach. If aliens ever visit us, I think the outcome would be much as when Christopher Columbus first landed in America, which didn't turn out very well for the Native Americans."

Fast forward now to July of 2015, and you'll see that professor Hawking has become much more hawkish in searching for extraterrestrial life. Stephen Hawking joined tech investor Yuri Milner and famed astrophysicist Lord Martin Rees in announcing the launch of Breakthrough Initiatives. Over the next 10 years, Milner will invest $100 million in this project that will give scientists access to some of the best telescopes in the world. This, they feel, is one giant step forward in the search for extraterrestrial life.

However, they will come up just as empty-handed as the SETI project did after decades of fruitless searching. Breakthrough Initiatives is searching for the wrong thing, you see. If they searched for God – the giver of all life – they would find Him when they searched with all their heart.

Heavenly Father, I know that the search for extraterrestrial life is really just an attempt to prove that our planet, teeming with the life that You created, is nothing special. I pray that many scientists will turn to You after failing in this endeavor to find life elsewhere. Amen.

A SNAKE WITH FOUR LEGS?

Genesis 3:14

"And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:"
Did you hear the exciting news about the scientist who found a snake with four legs? Well, actually it wasn't a snake. It was a fossil that British paleontologist David Martill from the University of Portsmouth discovered in an almost-forgotten box at a museum in Germany.

After the fossil's discoverer announced: "I realized we'd actually got the missing link between lizards and snakes", it didn't take long for tabloid-style headlines like these to start appearing:

• "Four-legged fossil holds secret of snake's slithering origins"
• "Weird 4-legged snake was transitional creature" and
• "Snakes' four-legged missing link"

Headlines like these are very misleading, to say the least. For one thing, this fossil is not the earth-shaking discovery that science publications would like us to believe. Have you ever heard of worm lizards? Did you know that many snakes with two legs have been found? The only thing different about this fossil is that it has four rather than two legs. Some scientists, in fact, aren't even convinced it's a snake at all. They think it's just a reptile.

Here at Creation Moments, we think it's quite possible that this four-legged snake fossil is hard evidence for what creationists have been saying all along about snakes. For as the Bible tells us in Genesis 3:14, God punished the serpent for deceiving Eve by making it crawl on its belly. This clearly suggests that snakes had legs before the curse.

Heavenly Father, give Your people a calm spirit so that we will not panic when scientists discover a fossil that appears to confirm evolution. No fossil will ever prove Your Word to be untrue! In Jesus' Name. Amen.
