WHAT METEOROLOGISTS THINK ABOUT "GREENHOUSE"
Matthew 24:30

What do professional meteorologists think about claims that the Earth is undergoing a greenhouse effect because of man's activities? Scientific opinion is growing that there is nothing to the idea that the Earth is either warming or in danger of warming under the proposed influence of the greenhouse effect. More in the scientific community are also becoming increasingly outspoken in their opposition to the false science used to support the idea that man's activities are causing the Earth to become warmer.
In one Gallup poll a cross-section of members of the American Geophysical Union and the American Meteorological Society were interviewed. Did these scientists, who should know better than anyone else, think that the greenhouse effect is something to fear? According to the poll, less than half - 41 percent - thought that there is scientific evidence for global warming. However, 70 percent thought that the scientific work supporting greenhouse conclusions is "fair to poor." So it is not true that all scientists accept the idea that greenhouse warming is going on. Less than half of the professional meteorologists believe it's happening. And most suspect the quality of the scientific work supporting ideas about greenhouse warming.
While Christians favor good stewardship of our resources, we need not fear the destruction of our planet, as do the unbelievers. Christ clearly tells us that Christians will be here to greet Him when He returns.
I thank You, dear Father, that You have promised to protect and provide for Your people on Earth until Christ returns. At the same time, I ask Your forgiveness for those times when I have carelessly misused and abused Your creation, and I ask Your help to be a better steward of Your gifts. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

MILLIONS OF DOLLARS PER POUND
Psalm 139:14
"I will praise thee; for I am fearfully [and] wonderfully made: marvellous [are] thy works; and [that] my soul knoweth right well."
Sometimes information can be so simplified that it becomes deceiving. All of us have heard that the human body is made up of only a few dollars worth of chemicals. However, that commonly repeated statement doesn't reflect what's really in the human body.
Take the complex sugar called hyaluronic acid. This sugar, found in the bodies of all animals and man, is the most effective lubricant known. It is also elastic, which means that it can absorb shock and return to its original shape. Hyaluronic acid lubricates your joints. And it protects delicate tissues in your eyes.
Hyaluronic acid is added to some cosmetics, skin moisturizers and shaving creams. It's also used in eye surgery to help the eye keep its shape and to protect eye tissues. The problem is, the hyaluronic acid used in eye surgery costs millions of dollars per pound. Although only a couple of hundred dollars worth is needed, this high cost prevents another medical use for this amazing substance. Medical researchers believe that lubricating arthritic joints with hyaluronic acid would restore lubrication and ease the causes of joint pain. Research continues on less expensive methods for making hyaluronic acid.
When people forget how fearfully and wonderfully God has created us, it's easy to reduce the wonders of the value of the human body to a few dollars worth of chemicals. Surely this is not the thankless attitude we should express to others.
Lord, I thank You that I am indeed fearfully and wonderfully made. Forgive my careless thanklessness and help me to more clearly see the countless reasons I have to continually thank and praise You! Amen.

QUICK COAL
2 Peter 3:3-4
"Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, and saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as [they were] from the beginning of the creation."
How is coal made? How long does it take? Scientists did not know the answers to these questions until the last few years. Despite this lack of knowledge, textbooks have taught for generations that it takes millions of years to make coal. This was another supposed proof that the Bible's view of history is wrong.
In recent years, scientists who believe in creation showed that coal could be formed in much less time. They also showed how the coal beds offered evidence that they were formed rapidly. Unfortunately for science, much of the scientific community ignored them because they were challenging claims made by evolution.
However, in the last 30 years, evolutionists in the scientific community have begun to produce their own work that confirms what creationists have been saying all along. For example, scientists at the Argonne National Laboratory heated lignin, the "glue" that holds the fibers in wood together, to 300 degrees (F) in the presence of clay. This temperature is fairly common in geological formations, and coal is found with clay. Even though the lignin was heated only for between two weeks and a year, coal formed. The lignin heated for a year produced high-grade coal. No, millions of years were not necessary.
This research further strengthens creationist research claims that the flood at the time of Noah, only about 4,500 years ago, is most likely responsible for most of the world's coal beds. Again, the false scientific claims that challenged the truth of Scripture have been discredited.
Thank You, Lord, that even man's most educated ideas are shown to be lies when they challenge the truth of Your Word. Help me not to become a scoffer against Your Word by failing to study or apply it in my life. Amen.

"And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth."
According to evolution, human language began to develop when ape-like creatures started to grunt and make other noises at each other. Eventually they agreed on meanings for these sounds and language was born. According to the Bible, language is a gift of our Creator, Who is the source of all language. He made us to have fellowship with Him. He gave us language as an important part of our relationship with God.
The evolutionary view of language doesn't explain why the more ancient languages are the most complex, but the biblical view does. The biblical view also explains why research is showing that we are programmed for language.
In one instance, researchers studied the communication of profoundly deaf children with hearing parents, neither of whom had ever been taught sign language. These children had never heard or seen normal language, so they wouldn't be influenced by their surroundings. Researchers wanted to find out if the children followed a pattern in how they put their communication together. To their surprise, they found that the children all followed the same patterns of sentence structure. The pattern used by the children is one of two patterns into which all the world's languages can be divided.
This research supports the Bible's claim that we were created with a built-in ability for language.
Dear Father, I confess that I have abused Your gift of language with foolish and harmful speech and by not using language to pray to You as often as I could. For Jesus' sake, forgive me and help me to use language as You intended. Amen.

STARS THAT ARE TOO FAST?
Revelation 21:23
"And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb [is] the light thereof."
The stars are among the most beautiful and powerful evidences for our Creator. While there are billions of them, no two seem to be identical. Even so, they can be classified into groups.
The hottest stars are blue. Our own star, the sun, is an average star. It is classified as a yellow star. Red giants can be more than a hundred million miles in diameter. One of the best known red giants in the night sky is Betelgeuse which is 18,000 times brighter than our sun. Good thing it's 600 light-years away!
Scientists say that in general, the hot blue stars are young. They say that yellow stars, like our sun, are middle-aged and when they get old, they will turn into red giants before exploding. However, changes take billions of years. Their evolutionary scheme for determining the age of stars recently suffered a serious blow. Astronomers report that a star called FG Sagittae went from a blue star to a yellow star in only 36 years! This calls in question their entire evolutionary scheme for dating stars with vast ages.
According to the Bible, the entire universe is only about 6,000 years old. And since man brought sin into the world, everything, including the stars, are running down. But we need not worry about our sun swelling up, exploding and killing all life on Earth. The Bible tells us that it will remain until our Lord returns for us. And in the new creation, there will be no need for the sun.
I thank You, Lord, for the warmth and beauty of the sun and the life it supports on our Earth. I eagerly anticipate the new heavens and Earth when You shall be the only light that I need. Amen.
