CREATION IS A SCIENTIFIC FACT"
Genesis 1:3
"And God said, Let there be light: and there was light."
In March of 2014 a team of scientists headed by astronomer John M. Kovac of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics announced that they had finally found the evidence they were seeking to support the theory that the universe had a beginning.
This news about the Big Bang caused physics professor Nathan Aviezer of Bar Ilan University to say: "One thing the announcement does do is make it clear that the universe had a definite starting point – a creation – as described in the book of Genesis."
He went on to say, "The Torah quotes God as saying 'let there be light,' and science tells us that this light came into existence, exploding to create the universe as we know it. … At this point I think we can say that creation is a scientific fact. Without addressing who or what caused it, the mechanics of the creation process in the Big Bang match the Genesis story perfectly," he said. "If I had to make up a theory to match the first passages in Genesis, the Big Bang theory would be it."
Let us not forget, however, that the Big Bang theory is still just that – a theory – and there are many scientists who reject it. In fact, we will talk more about Big-Bang-denying scientists in a future broadcast. But for now we'll simply say that Big Bang or not, we rejoice that some scientists are coming to realize that the concept of a Creator is not anti-science.
Father, I pray that more unbelieving scientists would believe in You as a result of believing the Big Bang theory. I also pray they would come to You for salvation as a result of believing what Your Word so clearly reveals. Amen.

EVOLUTION FOR YOU!"
Luke 12:6-7
"Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God? But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows."
"That's evolution for you!" That's what Dr. Rick Fairhurst, malaria researcher at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said when talking about malaria parasites that are becoming resistant to drugs that had been effective at fighting the deadly disease.
The World Health Organization estimates there were 207 million cases of malaria worldwide in 2012, killing 627,000 people, most of them children under age five. Science News laments that there is no approved vaccine against the protozoan malaria parasite, which is spread by mosquitoes and causes fever, chills, convulsions and more severe symptoms.
The whole point of the article is that "the history of malaria treatment is peppered with drugs to which the parasite has become resistant." But as Creation Moments has pointed out many times in the past, drug-resistant bacteria didn't get that way through evolution. Drug-resistant bacteria represent a loss of information. It would be like saying that you have evolved resistance to tennis elbow because you lost both of your arms in a car accident.
To evolutionists, though, everything is an example of evolution. This is nothing but shoddy thinking resulting from what they already believe to be true. It is the same kind of bad thinking that led to the banning of DDT, a harmless pesticide that kills parasite-carrying mosquitoes. DDT could have prevented the deaths of millions. It is no less tragic when scientists say "That's evolution for you!" when it has absolutely nothing to do with evolution!
Heavenly Father, while science has given us DDT, environmental activists have taken it away. I pray that world leaders will realize that human life is of infinitely more worth than imagined threats to our environment. Amen.

THE STRANGE BERRY"
Psalm 71:17
"O God, thou hast taught me from my youth: and hitherto have I declared thy wondrous works."
Sometimes it seems as if God made some creatures just to show us He could do the impossible. Many of these creatures, by their strange nature, offer direct challenges to evolutionary theory, since there was no evolutionary need for their unique nature.
One such creature is a bacterium that has been labeled "the toughest bug on Earth." Its Latin name means "strange berry that withstands radiation." It can withstand thousands of times the radiation that would kill a human. The bacterium was first isolated in the 1950s, but a scientist who began studying the bug in 1988 said, "I had difficulty believing anything like this could exist."
Many bacteria form hard capsules around themselves in response to radiation. While this provides some protection, the "strange berry" doesn't form a capsule and still survives better than any other bug. While 500 to 1,000 rads of radiation would kill a human being, the "strange berry" can withstand 1.5 million rads. The radiation shatters the "berry's" DNA into hundreds of fragments, a hundred times the fragmentation that is fatal to other bacteria. But a couple of hours later, the DNA is stitched back together, free of all mutations.
Evolutionists are puzzled because there is no environment containing this much radiation. Why would evolution develop such a creature? The "strange berry" not only challenges evolution directly, but also declares the skill and wisdom of its Creator!
We praise You, dear Father, for Your wondrous works which challenge unbelief and declare Your glory. Amen.

TOO MANY NOTES"
1 Chronicles 13:8
"And David and all Israel played before God with all their might, and with singing, and with harps, and with psalteries, and with timbrels, and with cymbals, and with trumpets."
Perhaps you remember the line from the film Amadeus in which someone observes of Mozart's music, "Too many notes." That statement reflects some people's opinion of Mozart's highly complex music. But researchers are finding that this mathematical complexity may be the reason for what some call "the Mozart effect."
Researchers at several universities around the United States have confirmed that Mozart's complex music has positive effects for both adults and children. In one study, rats were subjected to Mozart for 12 hours a day, beginning four weeks before birth. A second group heard only silence, a third heard only a constant hissing sound, while a fourth group heard only minimalist composer Philip Glass. When the rats were old enough to run a maze, they were tested. The Mozart rats not only ran the maze considerably faster than any of the others, but they made fewer mistakes. Other research has shown that adults do better on intelligence tests after hearing Mozart. While this effect is temporary in adults, children exposed to Mozart show a permanent improvement.
It is thought that the complex nature of Mozart's music encourages the brain to make more connections within itself. The more connections you have, the smarter you are. Surely music is a gift of God that benefits us and could never exist in a universe created by the forces of chance.
Thank You, Lord, for the gift of music. Help me to use music to praise You and to tell others of Your salvation. Amen.

WAS I GOING TO BE ARRESTED?"
Acts 1:8
"But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth."
One of our listeners – pastor and creationist Phil Spry – told us a remarkable story that I'm going to share with you in his own words.
Shortly after the old USSR dissolved I was in Moscow teaching Creation Science seminars in Russian high schools. At one school the missionary who set up the meeting of about seven students had to go to the school office to get a screen for my overhead projector. He came back with the school principal, who wanted to know what we were doing in that 800-seat auditorium with just seven kids. My translator told him, "This American has come here to tell the students how God created the world." He got very agitated and told us to stop. He quickly exited the room through a side door. I thought I was going to be arrested.
The principal went down the hall to the first classroom, opened the door and said to the teacher, "Bring all of your students and come with me." He then went to every classroom in the building and did the same thing. It took about thirty minutes but I had every student, teacher, administrator, custodian, counselor and cook were in the auditorium. He then came to me and in animated Russian spoke to my translator. "For seventy years our country has lost the knowledge of God. Please; tell my students how God created the world." Then he gave me the rest of the day with about a thousand people.
Creationists, do not lose heart! That day I shared the message of Genesis chapter 1, but more importantly, of John chapter 3!
Heavenly Father, thank You for opening doors for this man so that the gospel could be proclaimed. I pray that You will also open doors for me so I can share the gospel and biblical creation with many who now believe in evolution. Amen.

WO FE FE"
Acts 2:6
"Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language."
New research suggests that you might want to be careful about what you say around babies. As every parent knows, young children are sponges that easily absorb knowledge from their surroundings. Now there is research that indicates that by seven months of age, infants have already absorbed the basic rules of language.
In this study, seven month old infants listened to a sequence of syllables in which the third syllable was the same as the first. One that was used was "ga to ga." After listening to different versions of the same pattern, the infants were given a new sequence in which the last two syllables were the same, such as "wo fe fe." Researchers found that babies looked in the direction producing new sequences much longer, showing curiosity and surprise at them. Further study of the infants' responses showed that they were responding to new sounds and not just changes in the pattern of syllables. This study supports the idea that we are born with brain circuits that are, so to speak, prewired to learn and use grammar, say researchers.
The question for those who believe that we are the product of chance evolution is: How did we get prewired for learning and using grammar if we are the result of chance forces? The answer is, of course, that when God created us, He not only gave us the gift of language, but He gave us brains that are eager to learn language from infancy. Then He gave us His Word of salvation in Jesus Christ, so that He would not lose us.
I thank You for the gift of language, dear Father, and the ability to learn it so that I could learn of my Savior. Amen.

1,300-YEAR OLD RECORDING DISCOVERED?
Genesis 4:21
"And his brother's name was Jubal: he was the father of all such as handle the harp and organ."
If you've ever seen any photographs of Mayan pyramids, you will probably remember that they typically have a large set of stairs going to the top. Now an acoustics expert offers some interesting evidence that these steps may in fact be the world's oldest recording.
If you stand before the stairway of the Pyramid of Kukulkan at Chichen Itza, Mexico, and clap your hands, you will hear a curious, descending echo. If you are familiar with the quetzal, whose feathers the ancient Mayans treasured, the echo will remind you of the call of this bird. The bright green and red quetzal has long tail feathers that can be over two feet long. When sonograms of its call were compared to sonograms of the echo returning off the steps of this pyramid, they were surprisingly close. Both begin at a frequency of about 1,500 hertz and fall at the same rate to less than 1,000 hertz!
Making this even more interesting is the fact that the pyramid itself has a picture of Quetzalcoatl wearing a coat of quetzal feathers. According to legend, Quetzalcoatl was half quetzal. Traditional Mayan scholars don't doubt that the Mayans were clever enough to have purposely built the pyramid to provide this echo, and acoustics experts have found a similar echo at a temple in Uxmal, Mexico.
The Bible tells us that by the eighth generation of human beings musical instruments were in use. This pyramid may be evidence that we were created with the aptitude to understand and use sound, just as the Bible depicts in its opening chapters.
I thank You for the gift of sound and music, dear Father. Let me always be filled with praises for You. Amen.

A CLEVER GOLDEN TOAD
Matthew 6:26
"Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?"
All toads are not fat and ugly. The golden toad, which lives only in a few square miles of the cloud forest of Costa Rica, is a trim and slim toad with garishly bright orange coloring.
The golden toad offers even more surprises. After the first heavy rain of the year, as many as 20 to 30 males congregate around a pool of water. They sit motionless, waiting for the first female to arrive. Before long, the females begin to arrive, and a week or so later the entire population of golden toads, now numbering in the thousands, disappears back into the jungle to remain almost invisible for another year.
This breeding strategy shows a great deal of wisdom and understanding and ensures that there are plenty of golden toads in the next generation. Toads have many enemies in the jungle, but by all getting together at the same time, they can produce far more young than their predators can victimize in a single week.
You don't have to be a college graduate to know that toads are incapable of the kind of planning and ability to change their physical natures necessary to carry out this strategy. Evolutionists would say that no one thought of this strategy. But the clear answer is that there is a Creator, and He cares about all of His creatures.
Dear Father, not a sparrow drops from the sky without Your knowledge and purpose. Not even toads lack Your care. Help me to remember Your care when I am anxious about the cares of living. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

A FEW QUESTIONS FOR EVOLUTIONISTS
Job 5:13
"He taketh the wise in their own craftiness: and the counsel of the froward is carried headlong."
Why do giraffes have long necks or kangaroos have pouches? Evolutionists answer that natural selection has favored the development of certain characteristics while discouraging and eliminating other features. But if this is what happened, we who believe in creation have a few questions.
Giraffes have long necks, say evolutionists, because conditions favored the development of long-necked creatures that could feed on higher parts of the tree. But then many other grazing animals live side by side with giraffes and manage to get by. The horse, according to evolutionary explanations, has crowned teeth in order to survive in its environment. And yet the cow, with its uncrowned teeth, survives quite well in the same environment.
Some evolutionists say that plants developed berries so that their seeds, inside the berries, would be carried far and wide by hungry birds, thus ensuring the plants' survival. Why then did some plants develop poisonous berries? And if the maternal instinct evolved to preserve the next generation, why do creatures like the stickleback fish, seahorse, and midwife toad, to name a few, leave total care of the young to the male?
The truth is that natural selection does not offer a clear and consistent explanation for the living world. The diversity of the created world does not bear witness to evolutionary principles, but to the artistry of our Creator God.
Dear Father, You confound those who are wise in their own hearts and give wisdom and clear vision to those Whom You have made pure through the blood of Christ. Let the wisdom and vision I seek be that which You provide. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
